 SFIA as the IT Skills Standard in the UK

Recognition and Use

SFIA is recognised by the following bodies.

  • e-skills UK - The officially-appointed Sector Skills Council for Business and Information Technology in the UK
  • BCS - British Computer Society
  • IET - The Institution of Engineering and Technology 
  • IMIS - Institute for the Management of Information Systems
  • itSMF - The IT Service Management Forum, which promotes the use of ITIL (the IT Infrastructure Library)
  • UK Government - The Government IT Profession has adopted SFIA as its mandatory standard skills framework for use throughout Her Majesty's Government
  • Intellect - Previously known as the Computer and Software Services Association
  • DBIS - Department for Business, Innovation and Skills 
  • IFIP - The International Professional Practice Partnership (IP3), a global initiative sponsored by the International Federation for Information Processing (IFIP), has adopted SFIA as the skills and competence reference for the international professional standard - the IP3P

Use

The SFIA information has been obtained by approximately 15,000 organisations, with a global spread of over 100 countries. Many of these are household names. All sectors of industry, Government and education are represented.
